A few questions on NBA 2K9 Empty
PostSubject: A few questions on NBA 2K9   A few questions on NBA 2K9 Icon_minitimeTue Nov 04, 2008 5:41 am

Hey guys- New here, This is the first 2k game I bought (and last for the PS2). I have a few questions though:

1. How in the world are you supposed to become a mvp? I am currently playing with the Lakers and Kobe Bryant is the League leader in PPG (1.5 points per game higher than Lebron). In All-star votes, he has 9000+ votes more than Allen Iverson but Allen Iverson, unlike Kobe is picked as one of the MVP finalists!!! followed by 4 other people that doesn't even match up to Kobe's stats (apart from Lebron)

2. Is there a special technique for shooting in the game? I always hear people put their sliders down to below 50 but I always need mine around 70. At 50- I hardly ever got a shot in, ever

3. How does the shooting stick work? Is there anyway you can tell the person if you want to either do a lay-up or dunk the ball?

thanks Smile

1. Yea i had the same thing happen to me and i got mad at that but after playing for a few more games Bryant is in second place for MVP for me. In my game, he is avg around like 27 pts, 2.5 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 2 steals, etc. Pretty much he has to do better than just score lots of points to win MVP. Other than that just keep playing i guess.

2. Get open shots and release right.

3. no clue i rarely use the joystick

1.You receive MVP somewhere right before the Playoffs if your player wins it.

2.Just keep your shooting sliders on the default 50.
Change your layup sliders to 70 though.
Just go to practice mode and practice your shots.
Try someone bad at shooting 3's first e.g: any center or PF except for people like Mehmet Okur, Dirk Nowitzki etc.
Try to get your timing right until every shot is Perfect Release.
Then try to shoot with some good 3 pt shooters like Jason Kapono or Ray Allen.

3. Same as SuperVegeta. I don't use shot stick much. but... to perform 360 dunk just do a running dunk and pull the right stick down when u're near the rim.

2. Shooting in the game is based on timing of the release and how good is your player in that particular spot. Also open shots would most likely to go in than contested ones. But in some cases even perfect release and open jumpers might still miss so luck is still in play.

3. Hmm I'm not an avid fan of the shot stick (I prefer if 2K used the R stick for the Isomotion rather than the shot stick.) I think the shot stick emulates to control your shots. For example if you pull the stick away from the basket you will do a fade away and if you tilt it towards the basket you player will jump forward and shoot. Also you can use it to alter your shot during midair and avoid blocks. But the shotstick is more useful in the 2K camera I think.

Why rou're not using th right analog?

I'm using it since 2k7...

And I'm playing Tracy McGrady while using the square button and no one goes in... but when I used the right analog almost all goes in.

Actually I used the Square Button on NBA 2K6-2K7 but this year I spend time practicing the shot stick that right now I'm used to it. I rarely use the button anymore (just for drop pass).
