The site has been opened for about 5 months now..

It is time for the forum to have rules as there are a lot of members posting now.

You must follow these rules or else there will be a consequence.

1. No double-posting

Absolutely no double-posting. This means that if you have posted 1 message its enough.... Don't post the same message again!

Consequence: Warning, then 3 day ban.

2. No Spamming

No spamming in any board... This includes the Other section. This means you cannot post multiple threads just to get your post count up.

Consequence: 3 day ban if it continues it will become an IP ban.

3. Flaming

We take flaming seriously. Abusing another user or release is not tolerated here at Hoop Dreams forums. Mocking the site or user for no legitimate reason will result in a 1 month ban.

Consequence: 1 month ban,if it continues then it will become an IP ban

4. Posting in the wrong place/Creating a topic that has already been created

If there is a thread created, for example: Share your NBA 2K9 online username! and then you create another thread on the exact same topic is creating a topic that has already been created..
Do not post in the wrong section! e.g Releasing your rosters in the discussions section.

Consequence: warning, then 5 day ban.

5. Flooding the ShoutBox
Flooding the shoutbox will not be tolerated... It is annoying and you will be banned from accessing the ShoutBox in the future.

6. Use the search tool

Use the search tool before you post to make sure that your question/topic hasn't already been answered or asked or created already.

7.Creating useless threads/Asking questions that have already been answered

This gets on my nerves and probably everybody elses. It is annoying as people are having to answer the same questions over and over again. Once again, this goes back to rule #6... USE THE SEARCH TOOL BEFORE YOU POST TO MAKE SURE YOUR TOPIC HASN'T ALREADY BEEN CREATED.

Consequence: warning, then 5 day ban.

8. Give reputation to contributors

Self-explantory.. If you do not know how to give rep. it is on the top right of a post. Click the +(positive) button to give the poster reputation.
If you are unhappy with a post(spam) give them a negative (-) reputation point.

9.No advertising in the site

No advertising websites or any other online content unless it is providing another user with information on his/her topic that they are asking about.
You may advertise in the Other section.

@Battledon: Don’t you think having banned just because she\he double post is too harsh? Maybe he\she did not read the rules… Just give him/her a warning first, before banning him/her.

^You banned a member who advertised here, right? In my opinion, you might give him a warning before bannng him/her,and if he do it again, that's the time when you'll ban him.

Well, he did it twice.
